Black Monk on Myspace

First discovered on Poo-bah Records’ debut 2004 release, Day & Night Ep with Ras G, he has since offered a live instrumental on Plug Research's Sound Of LA Vol. 2, a solo MONK MUSIC EP also on Poo-Bah Records, and has future releases scheduled. His background includes playing keys in a gigging jazz ensemble, studying with great avant horn player Bobby Bradford, and doing session work with artists like Ras G, Ta’Raach, Take, Kutmah, Sacred, and Snoop Dogg. In the mid-90’s Blackmonk worked as an assistant engineer at Music Grinder Recording Studios. Death Row Records frequented the place along with other major Rock, Pop, and R&B labels and artists at the time. Here is a sample of what Blackmonk has been working on.
